Black and white photographic prints covering the campaign in East Africa including drafts of men of the Nigeria Regiment leaving Lagos for service in East Africa and soldiers of the same regiment returning to Lagos after service in East Africa. Also photographs taken in Northern Rhodesia (Zambia) at Abercorn (Mbala): construction of defences at Abercorn jail in August 1915 prior to the second German attack on Saisi; the dismantling of the jail in 1916; a Maxim gun detachment of the Northern Rhodesia Police in September 1914; the hospital with its protecting blockhouse and fence; sportsday of the 1st Belgian Colonial Infantry Regiment. At Fort Roseberry (Mansa): Column of the British South African Police marching to Abercorn; women grain sellers preparing supplies for local troops and African porters carrying food for troops. At Solwezi: The visiting commissioner, H C Marshall, addressing Bakaonde and Balamba chiefs and headmen about the war in German East Africa and the need for porters; Musokantanda, paramount chief of the Bakaonde and Balamba arriving with men for service as porters. Also a photograph of African porters at Fort Jameson (Chipata).
The collection also includes photographs relating to the part played by the West Indies in the First World War: Photographs of a 4.7-inch naval gun position on Richmond Hill in Grenada and three copies of a commemorative photograph album to mark the raising of the Grenada (3) Contingent of the British West Indies Regiment. Photographs in the album include portraits of the commanding officer and adjutant, Major D L Slinger and Lieutenant O W Chalker; the contingent on parade; a platoon undertaking physical drill, men practicing entrenching and the changing of the guard at camp.

Loose black and white photographic prints, the majority with annotations handwritten on the reverse, also two mount cards each bearing two photographic prints, borders and titles handwritten on the mount card and three copies of a card covered commemorative album (two green, one brown) titled: GRENADA. WINDWARD ISLANDS. BRITISH WEST INDIES. Some photographs of the Grenada (3) Contingent 1916. Photographic prints are mounted on the album pages (secured along top edge of print only) with printed captions below.
