Label

A solid column of soldiers marches against a vast, grey sky towards a light in the distance. The men have become a single body of movement, strong in the face of the enemy but losing all individuality. Nevinson's use of sharp angles in the composition emphasises the mechanisation of the exercise and the disorienting nature of war.
