Air Marshal R M Drummond CB DSO and Bar OBE MC

This officer was born at Perth, Western Australia in 1894 and was educated at the Scotch College and the Technical College, Perth. He enlisted in September 1914 in the Australian Army Medical Corps and served in Egypt and Gallipoli. In 1915 he was commissioned in the Royal Flying Corps and flew in Palestine and on the Western Front. In less than a year, he gained the MC and the DSO and Bar, in each case for gallantry in action against the enemy in aerial combat. In 1932 he received the OBE for his services in command of an expedition in the South East Sudan during which he and a companion carried out a flight from Nassau to Nasser. Air Marshal Drummond is now Deputy Air Officer Commanding in Chief, Middle East.
