Rationing and the control of commodities
includes books, tokens, stamps and related pieces that are concerned with the control of commodities. The British part of the collection is physically divided into seven categories - First World War Food; Second World War and Postwar Food; Second World War and Postwar Clothing; Fuel; Miscellaneous Commodities; Rationing Information; Sevices. Additional mounted British material is held in two boxes, one for the First World War and the other for the Second World War. The foreign element of the collection includes a very small amount of Second World War material relating primarily to Canada, France and the United States, and a large collection of German First World War rationing ephemera, both mounted and unmounted including a folder of forgeries
