According to the introduction by George P.J. Klaus of the 'Detroit Delineator' the 'bankrupt bookseller' was a distant relative of his. The 'bookseller' was an American who served with the British Army during the First World War in Gallipoli and was hospitalized before seeing further action on the Western Front with the 9th Division
