Can contains note with condition reports from 1981 - 2000. Short summary: Assumed first roll of two reel 'Topical' film recording a local procession of veterans and others in Ramsgate held in memory of Earl Haig. Full summary: A band leads the procession along the street, with the flag bearing the words RAMSGATE BAND. Veterans follow, members of the Buffs (Royal East Kents) (?), walking six abreast and led by a uniformed officer. Some of the men are carrying wreaths. The veterans are followed by serving soldiers, then cadets, policemen, sailors, Boy Scouts, local government officers and councillors and the mayor and the mace bearer. The pavement is crowded with onlookers. Cut to a war memorial, with soldiers forming up behind. An unidentified man lays a wreath and steps back to salute. A soldier lays a wreath. The priest and other officials from the church pass in front of the camera. Soldiers fire a rifle salute. Blurred close-up of the wreaths. Note: this film is not listed on the BUFVC database or that for Pathe or Gaumont so is more likely to be a local topical. (1928) [Allocated, title taken from condition report in can] Print of negative of first roll of two reel newsreel coverage taken by Gaumont (?) of memorial parade in Ramsgate in memory of Earl Haig, who died on 29 January 1928. This roll is not a complete copy of the neg (Temp 17235) as it misses the opening shots of the Ramsgate Band at the head of the parade and does not include the close-up shots of the wreaths at the end. Summary: A parade of veterans, six abreast, walk solemnly up a street in Ramsgate, Kent. The pavement is crowded with onlookers, including a group of boys, who turn to look at the cameraman. The veterans (Buffs- Royal East Kents) are followed by soldiers, drummers, policemen, members of the fire brigade, sailors, cadets, Boy Scouts, Girl Guides and one assumes, local government officers and councillors with the mayor and mace bearer. Locals, including children, join the procession at its end. Cut to the war memorial by a church, where an unidentified civilian male lays a wreth, steps back and salutes. He is followed by a soldier, who also lays a wreath. A priest and others from the church pass in front of the camera. To the left of the memorial, soldiers form up and fire a rifle salute. 35mm, B+W, Pos, mute. Nitrate, 135ft. No edge code to indicate stock manufacturer or age of stock. First half of roll is yellow and faded, rest of reel is better but whole roll is shrunk. Condition report gives annual reports from 1981 to 2000.
