This small decorative Christmas medal by Goetz (1875-1950) includes a portrait of Feldmarschall August von Mackensen
(1849-1945), who after his success on the Eastern Front at Gorlice Tarnow in May 1915, went on to control the Austro-German invasion of
Serbia in September 1915. The second Christmas of the war is commemorated in the reverse design by the second lighted candle on the fir
sprig and the reverse text is translated as 'Christmas in the field 1915'. See MED 63 for Goetz's 1914 Christmas medal.
