As both a beautiful building and a symbol of Flemish medieval history and prosperity, the Cloth Hall at Ypres was used extensively in Allied wartime imagery. The destruction of the Hall during the conflict was utilised as evidence of German aggression and barbarity. Between 1933 and 1967 the Cloth Hall was meticulously restored to its pre-First World War condition.
