Part 1: No opening United News titles. 'Pres. Roosevelt meets Middle East leaders'; view from the cruiser USS Quincy (CA-71) as the destroyer USS Murphy (DD-603) comes alongside. Looking down on Saudi party on deck. Ibn Saud sitting in an armchair on deck. Ibn Saud. Members of the Saudi entourage on deck. Close-up two Saudis. Two men drink coffee on deck. Ibn Saud comes aboard the cruiser and is saluted. He meets President Roosevelt. Roosevelt and Ibn Saud in discussion; Colonel William Eddy is also present as translator. Ibn Saud departs. Emperor of Ethiopia Haile Selassie, in military uniform, comes aboard; Roosevelt introduces his daughter Anna Boettiger. Selassie walks ond deck. King Farouk of Egypt is saluted as he comes aboard. Farouk meets Roosevelt. Farouk and Roosevelt in jovial conversation; Farouk lights Roosevelt's cigarette.

Part 2: 'First pictures - liberation of Manila!' American troops of Eighth Army advancing along a road in double file, accompanied by a Sherman medium tank. A village by a river with pall of smoke rising. Two Shermans, with two men sheltering behind the nearest, which is firing its coaxial machine gun. An M8 Howitzer Motor Carriage, named Dina. The two tanks; one fires its main gun. The tanks advance slowly with infantry following. Infantry run forward across open ground. Bazookas are fired, two at targets at close range. An infantryman fires a rifle grenade from his M1 Garand. A grenade is dropped into a knocked out Japanese tank; smoke erupts from inside. White smoke rises from behind a wooden, stilted house. An American soldier takes cover as a phosphorous grenade explodes near a house. American soldier watches a wooden building burn. American troops pass on foot.
