7TH ARMOURED BRIGADE PDT AT SENNELAGER, AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER 2005 (TAPE 1) [Allocated Title]
PDT (pre-deployment training) by members of 1st Battalion the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers (31 August and 1 September) and 32 Engineer Regiment Royal Engineers (7 and 8 September) as part of 7th Armoured Brigade. The training takes place at Sennelager Ranges in Germany.
Night activities by 1st Battalion the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, inside building on the range. (Very little can be seen as the illumination comes solely from small torches.) Scenes include activities at gate.
Daylight: field manoeuvres featuring Lynx and Puma helicopters, Challenger tanks Warriors and other vehicles. Suspects (in Arab clothes) are held under arrest and taken away in a Puma. Movements of soldiers in the field. Training in mock village: black soldier (his helmet covered in cloth) fires against an advancing (Gurkha) enemy. Troops advance through the mock houses. Smoke bombs are used. After the exercise, there is a debriefing.
Further night exercises (poor visibility) including movements in Land Rovers along a road on the range (32 Engineer Regiment ?).
