SURGE OPERATION BY 1ST BATTALION THE RIFLES IN THE NAWA-I-BARAKZAYI DISTRICT, HELMAND PROVINCE, AFGHANISTAN, 6 MARCH 2009 (TAPE 2) [Allocated Title]
Members of 1st Battalion the Rifles, accompanied by the Afghan National Army (ANA), come under fire while patrolling in the Nawa-i-Barakzayi district; continuation from previous tape.
The soldiers (British and Afghan) make their way along a road at the edge of a compound; various soldiers are also gathered within the compound. There is sporadic firing. Shaky camerawork as the troops advance. Rocket-propelled grenades are fired at possible enemy positions as patrol closes in and pauses behind a wall. Long shot of soldiers patrolling compounds. Soldiers close in on the enemy firing point; at this time, the enemy has retreated. Further sporadic firing can be heard in the distance.
Scenes shot later: 1 Battalion the Rifles head off on patrol in Pinzgauer trucks, WMIK and Snatch Land Rovers; Afghan National Police pick-up truck is also seen; a line of Afghan National Army pick-ups is also seen.
