Activities of 40 Commando Royal Marines at Sangin DC (District Centre).
Night scenes with QRF (Quick Reaction Force), shot using an image intensifier: patrol through Sangin (interference to sound). Illuminating rounds are fired. Foot patrol accompanied by explosives search dog. Briefing for camera by Company Sergeant Major of B Company 40 Commando (he tells of reports of gunmen). Daytime patrol sequences with members of the Afghan National Police; views of compounds outside Sangin as patrol passes through. Wreckage of Viking armoured vehicle. Marines take a rest; one shows off his blistered foot. Troop poses for a group photograph. Patrol continues around the outskirts of the town, and passes through part of the "Green Zone" where the Taliban have their strongholds. Marines talk with children and local elders; patrol continues. (Lengthy shot of ground, as the camera is put down.) Patrol continues; further discussions with local men.
