An updated version (2005) of the Royal Navy recruitment film showing a brief summary of the Royal Marines recruit training course, from the recruits' arrival at Lympstone train station, Devon, to their passing out parade thirty weeks later.
The course starts with a two week induction, followed by 13 weeks training, then 13 weeks of team building, advanced battle fitness and amphibious training at Poole in Dorset. The final two weeks are spent on Commando training tests in full combat equipment. These include a nine mile speed march, of which two miles are a cross country obstacle course, finished off with the Tarzan (above ground) course. The final test is the 30 mile march across Dartmoor, which is to be completed in less than eight hours. Those who complete the course spend the next day rehearsing for their Passing Out parade, where they receive the green beret of the Royal Marine Commandoes.
