Looking over the side of a boat with men in the water as they attempt to cajole mules into the water. Mules swimming alongside the boat and boatmen paddling. More mules led into the water. Mules and handlers in front of a large and apparently overgrown pagoda. Man directing (?); he appears to be a Gurkha but is wearing civilian (?) longyi. Mules at the riverside. More mules into the water. Mules emerging at the far side; pagoda on the opposite. Boat paddled. Various shots of mules emerging from the water.

Meet The Squander Bug

This unpleasant-looking character is called the Squander Bug, and it was created during the Second World War by artist Phillip Boydell, an employee of the National Savings Committee. The cartoon bug appeared in press adverts and poster campaigns as a menace who encouraged shoppers to waste money rather than buy war savings certificates.
