Troops of 2nd Battalion, 13th Frontier Force Rifles (4th Indian Infantry Brigade, 26th Indian Division) advancing south after amphibious landings at Letpan, in the Arakan region of Burma.

Full description

Harbour Defence Motor Launch (HDML) 1265 in a chaung (river or watercourse) with a landing craft alongside. Indian troops on the march along a road. A Japanese sign on a tree instructs drivers to sound their horn. Indian troops moving off into thick vegetation. Troops encounter some local civilians, and have an apparently good-natured conversation. Indian troops on the march. Troops on the march; amongst them is a British naval officer armed with an M1 Carbine. Indian troops of 2nd Battalion 13th Frontier Force Rifles crouched in a ditch or similar (by an earth bank) with fixed bayonets. A Frontier Force Rifles' Bren gun position. A Major Mohammed Muzaffar looking at a map with a group of his men. Troops on the march with Major Muzaffar beckoning troops forward.
