BASRA AIR STATION, 26 NOVEMBER 2007 [Allocated Title]
Scenes at the Contingency Operating Base (COB), Basra Air Station, shot using a handycam.
I. Shaky preparation shots showing the Combat Camera Team preparing for work and walking through buildings at the COB.
II. Interior of the Air Traffic Control Tower, where civilian air traffic controllers (male and female) are at work. Views through the window across the airport's runways and taxiways. Light aircraft prepares for take-off. Combat Camera Team (Captain Lorna Ward, Corporal Andy Holmes) is filmed interviewing Iraqi air traffic controller Mu'ayed Yousif. (Poor sound here, but see also BFV 1059 which contains footage of this interview.)
III. Iraqi civil fire tenders at station. A training fire (made of old wooden cable drums) is lit: CCT cameraman Corporal Andy Holmes films the proceedings, before the Iraqi fire tender drives up and the fire team tackle the blaze. Warrant Officer Bill McCreath, force fire officer, is seen being interviewed.
IV. Combat Camera Team members pack their equipment.
V. Interior of field hospital; Combat Camera Team members Andy Holmes and Ralph Merry in their "hospital blues" prior to filming an operation. Inside the operating theatre, post-operative dressings are placed on the arm of Flight Lieutenant Neil Lawrenson (see earlier tapes). Interview with Surgeon Lieutenant Commander Kate Prior RN is filmed.
