Unedited rushes of the 50th anniversary memorial service, marking the liberation of Denmark from German occupation on 5 May 1945.
Full description
The service marked not only the liberation of Denmark but also saw the unveiling of a memorial plaque dedicated to the sixty nine airmen who lost their lives during air drop operations over Denmark between 1940 and 1945. Present at the service were HRH Princess Benedikte of Denmark and HRH The Duchess of Gloucester. Footage includes the arrival of the Royals and several sections of the service. The last ten minutes of the film show plaques commemorating the air operations, a history of the church itself, some of the surviving war damage from the blitz that destroyed the church in the Second World War and music used in the ceremony.
