Scenes from in and around Denpasar, the capital of Bali in the Netherlands East Indies (Indonesia), where Japanese troops and Indonesian nationalist sentiment are both evident.

A sign or leaflet fixed to a wall reads 'We want peace with the world. We do not want to be ruled by the Dutch!'. Looking down a road; a Japanese soldier (?) walks towards camera. A Japanese lorry loaded with furniture and arms passes; the Japanese personnel riding on it salute the camera. Looking at the entrance to the Bali Hotel with Dutch and British flags flying. More high shots over the town and jungle, and another shot of the flags. A soldier standing by a stone figure (of a devil or mythological character?). Wide shot in a wooded area; three people stop and look at camera. In a village street (?) barebreasted women and young men dance in a circle. Crowd of villagers with a thatched building behind. There are some naked children at the front of the crowd.
