Second World War British Ministry of Information animated cartoon newsreel trailer using the story of the popular fairy tale of Cinderella to encourage people to remember rags when sorting out salvage for reuse for the war effort.
Full description
Opening title 'Cinderagella or Rags To Stitches'. Cinderagella, a sad worn out rag is seen sweeping the floor of a kitchen with the commentary "poor Cinderagella spurned by one and all, no one will take her to the Ragtime Ball". The Fairy Rag Bag then appears and whisks Cinderagella off to the Salvage Factory where she is turned in to a nurses uniform "rags to uniform - each year millions rags are thus reborn". The Fairy Rag Bag flies Cinderagella to the castle hosting the Wartime Service Ragtime Ball where Cinderagella meets the Prince, "a remade rag himself". While Cinderagella and the Prince dance, the Fairy Rag Bag comments "Cinderagella goes to join the Nation - my magic put her back in circulation". The short animation concludes with the Fairy Rag Bag talking to camera "The play is now over and there remains the tag, when sorting salvage don't forget the rag bag".
