Italian guns smashed after a night patrol of the column. Number 9 Section, Number 7 Platoon, 2nd Battalion the Rifle Brigade lay a smoke screen then attack an enemy strong point, using a Vickers with support from Brens and Rifles.
Over two million American servicemen passed through Britain during the Second World War.
