I. The cameraman surveys the ruins of Château Gaillard, a castle built in 1196 by Richard the Lionheart on limestone cliffs overlooking Les Andelys and the Seine. Two Scammell tank transporters from 22nd Armoured Brigade's REME unit and a jeep make their way across a 440-foot long Class 40 Bailey pontoon bridge assembled by 6th Army Troops RE from 29th to 31st August 1944 at Les Andelys.

II. At Muids, the pipe band of the 10th Battalion Highland Light Infantry marches through the village and attracts a following from some of the local inhabitants. The 2nd Battalion Gordon Highlanders' pipe band plays to men of the battalion and local people in a field in the village of Le Thuit.
