Full description
Gunners belonging to the 3rd Royal Horse Artillery's 'D' battery fire their 25-pounder field guns on targets near Livarot. The battery commander refers to a stop-watch as he gives the order to fire. Engineers detonate at a distance a large German land-mine on the St Pierre-sur-Dives - Livarot road. A four-man patrol from the 1/6th Battalion Queen's Regiment scours hedgerows and an orchard for snipers. Infantrymen are seen briefly riding on the back of a lorry. A Vickers machine-gun detachment from No. 3 Group Royal Northumberland Fusiliers spies on German positions in and around the small town of Livarot. From this position, the cameraman films 25-pounder shells bursting on hills overlooking Livarot and the Vie valley. Cromwell and Firefly tanks belonging to the 1st Royal Tank Regiment's 'C' squadron roll into the village of Boissey.
