I. MS-CU as dredger leaves inner harbour at Port-en-Bessin. Swing bridge closes after vessel has passed, and pedestrians cross - Mack 10-ton cargo truck approaches the opposite end of the bridge. MLS off the starboard bow of SS Gladonia lying inside the harbour wall, and pan left across the harbour to the opposite wall, where mobile cranes unload a second vessel, lying on the seaward side. MLS of camouflaged fuel tanks - Mk II Dennis 6-ton lorries parked in the foreground.

III. CUs of spud and spud-down haul and -lift ropes where they emerge from framing - the pierhead sinks slightly and is then lifted again. Various CUs of control room on pierhead bridge, operator, and board with draught gauges and winch controls.

Admiral Ramsay and Rear-Admiral Rivett-Carnac, Flag Officer British Assault Area, arrive at Naval House in a Humber staff car, to be greeted by Captain Hickling (NOIC), who introduces them to officers of the port party - Ramsay shakes hands with Commander H Alexandria (ANOIC) and Captain Leslie Thompson, Divisional Sea Transport Officer. Major J P Kelly, RM, is also present. Ramsay enters Naval House and sits on the balcony, talking with Captain Hickling. Flag officers depart, and staff go about their duties.
