SEARCH FOR COMET WRECKAGE IN THE MEDITERRANEAN [Allocated Title]
RFA Sea Salvor searches uses an underwater camera to search for wreckage of a Comet in the Mediterranean Sea.
(Part 1) George MacNeice (from the Admiralty Research Laboratory, Teddington), aided by Ordinary Seaman Revie and diver Charles Docherty, prepares an underwater television camera for trial on board RFA Sea Salvor at Boatman's Wharf, Malta. Tests before camera is hoisted and lowered into the sea. Mr MacNeice explains how it works to Captain C W McMullen (Captain, Second Minesweeping Squadron).
(Part 2) A Pye radio technician and a Naval Petty officer attack the rod that keeps the camera off the sea bed; camera is then lowered into the water.
