CAPTAIN MAUNSELL SUCCEEDS CAPTAIN COLQUHOUN AS COMMANDING OFFICER OF HMS GLORY [Allocated Title]
I. HMS Glory, 22 April, 1952. During her last patrol, Captain T A K Maunsell, RN, flies onboard HMS Glory in a USN Avenger to take command and relieve Captain K S Colquhoun. LS-MS as first Avenger lands on. Second aircraft follows, and taxies forward, wings folding - HA.CU as it passes camera-position on island. MCU as Captain Maunsell, wearing flying gear, emerges from beneath the folded wing of the parked aircraft - he is with Captain Colquhoun, who introduces him to the ship's senior officers, Commander R L Alexander and Commander (Air) S Keane - they shake hands. Captain Maunsell doffs his flying gear, and Captain Colquhoun helps him out of his Mae West - Captain Colquhoun does not seem very familiar with the lifejacket, and Commander Keane is called upon to assist. The two captains enter the island.
II. Two Sea Furies fly overhead - camera panning left to right across carrier's superstructure. LS along flightdeck to where Westland Dragonfly alights.
III. Evening of 23 April, 1952. Captain Colquhoun departs HMS Glory. MS over flightdeck - three Sea Furies and a Firefly are lined up along the deck edge - in the foreground Captain Colquhoun takes leave of his officers. Ship's company gives the Captain three cheers as he climbs into boatswain's chair for transfer to HMNZS Rotoiti - his officers form the hauling party. MCU of Rotoiti alongside as Captain Colquhoun goes up to the frigate's bridge. HA of Rotoiti's pendant number F 625, and pan up to the bridge, where a man semaphores. Captain Colquhoun raises his cap to Glory - HMNZS Rotoiti makes off, passing right to left through the screen. Final MS broad on the port quarter of the departing frigate.
