British Home Front propaganda documentary encouraging people to use the National Kitchens, 1918.
I. A view of the rooftops of London. In every home someone cooks a meal - as one woman cooks at a stove. This is uneconomical. A staff of nine women at the Poplar National Kitchen located in Libra Road show how they can easily make 1,000 dinners daily. The dining hall is spacious and prices cheap - the menu board for 31st May is shown. The film advises people to use the kitchens, and get their local mayor to start one if none exists. II. At the end of the film, unrelated to it, appears the caption symbol for Pathé Animated Gazette.
