Smiling Reich Commissioner for the Netherlands Dr Seyss-Inquart, dressed in civilian suit, passes along railway platform patting heads of Dutch children whom he has invited on holiday to Gmunden on the Traunsee in Austria. Packed Dutch train marked Ostmark pulls out and arrives at Gmunden where a banner greeting the youth of the Netherlands awaits the predominantly blonde youngsters. Children smile, eat and enjoy themselves on the lake. (End of Reel 1)

First German landings on English soil have taken place on Channel Islands, where scenes on Jersey show local life continuing normally under the protection of German arms. Soldiers stand outside RAF HQ and others smoke beside an English No Smoking sign. German officer arrives outside officer of the German Kommandant in a car driven by a British policeman. Street scenes include view of Smith Street. Coast is protected by light and heavy calibre guns.

VII. Hamburg after RAF bombing raid. Reported death of twenty-two children in raid on Barmbeck in Hamburg shows that Britain is almost exclusively bombing civilian non-military targets. Party of foreign press sees damage to buildings, then have panoramic look over city from top of old St Michaelis church tower to disprove British claims that Hamburg has been reduced to ruins.

Retrospective account of the Franco-Italian fighting in the Alps shows unopposed advance of Italian soldiers up side of Mont Blanc, firing and crossing snow. Signs scrawled on side of French pillbox indicate passage of 21º Reggimento Fanteria Cremona. Views of slight damage to deserted streets of Menton are sole indication of war.
