NAVY MAN - PLUS : THE STORES ACCOUNTANTS [Main Title]

Short recruitment film concentrating on the rôle of the Royal Navy's stores accountants.

Voice-over narrative, delivered by a young stores accountant, accompanies film of typical duties. The Chief Stores Accountant and his staff use microfiche to locate any one of 35,000 parts. The ship's busy main stores are shown, the "Aladdin's cave" where the Petty Officer Stores Accountant works. RAS (replenishment at sea) where new stores (and occasionally people) are brought aboard by jackstay transfer. All stores accountants have other roles, which may include first aid. Emergency RAS: vital parts flown in by Sea King helicopter. Final scene of sunset ceremony, with Stores Accountants taking part.
