A simple (amateur ?) compilation, with commentary, of film of Attlee's visit to Berlin and to Celle airfield during the Blockade/Airlift.
Attlee arrives at Gatow airfield in Berlin and is met by Generals Robertson and Bourne, and Mayor Ernst Reuter. He visits Tempelhof, meeting US Generals Clay and Hayes, reviews a parade and inspects airlift operations. At the Mackenzie King Barracks (British Sector) with General Bourne, he inspects the 11th Hussars. Sightseeing visit to Olympic Stadium. At the Villa Lemm (Residence of GOC British troops in Berlin) Attlee poses for press with Bourne and other 2 Sectors' Commandants, Howley and Ganeval. A visit to inspect airlift at Gatow. At Robertson's residence, Attlee meets Berlin leaders Reuter, Friedensburg, Schreiber, Neumann, Suhr and Schwennicke. Leaving Berlin, Attlee visits Celle to see the other side of the Airlift, and witnesses the loading of the 100,000th ton of supplies before taking a last farewell.
