HMS ARK ROYAL LAUNCHES A PHANTOM [Allocated Title]
Phantom FG.1 012 (registration XV 568) is launched from angled deck of the recently recommissioned HMS Ark Royal. The aircraft performs slow and high speed fly pasts.
LA.MS to forebody of Phantom 012 on Ark Royal - the cockpits are open. CU of the omega flash on the aircraft's tailfin - signifying the last of the Navy's conventional fixed-wing fighters - and the carrier's code letter 'R'. CU of the ROYAL NAVY inscription on the fuselage and the aircraft's serial number XV 568. Aircrew walk out onto deck - one of them checks the aircraft. HA.CU of the observer in cockpit. Pilot emplanes. A flightdeck engineer directs 012 onto the waist catapult - when correctly positioned 012 extends the nose leg. Catapult crew attach the bridle.
