I. "H.M.S. Exeter Home". HMS Exeter comes alongside at Plymouth. Waiting crowds cheer her arrival. CU of Captain Bell as he delivers a short address. Churchill visits the ship with Sir John Simon, Admiral Sir Dudley Pound and Admiral Dunbar-Nasmith, C-in-C Plymouth. Crewmen tell of their experiences. Churchill addresses officers and men mustered on the quarterdeck. Views of battle damage on Exeter. Churchill shakes hands with officers and warrant officers, and is given three cheers by the crew.

II. "Royal Visit to Scotland". King George VI inspects Naval personnel fell in on a parade ground, and presents medals to a Commander, RN, and a Sergeant of the Royal Marines. Cut to HM inspecting RAF personnel - a pilot is awarded a DFC. King and Queen Mary visit an ordnance factory and go on a walk-about in dockyards - the civilian workers have to be restrained from approaching too closely.

III. "The King Inspects Dover Patrol". HM inspects men fell in on the quayside in driving sleet. An elderly rating hunches up against the cold - his companions smile. King presents medals - the second man has no cold weather clothing and looks rather unhappy. A troopship approaches the quayside and men disembark in heavy sleet. In a chilly reception area the King meets some of the men and chats with them. Outside, a wag jerks a loaf from a crate of provisions carried by a companion and holds it aloft for the camera. The King's party departs in snow-covered cars.
