THE AIR DESPATCH LETTER SERVICE [Allocated Title]

Film of an Anson's interior (showing back view of pilot and navigator) - below, there is a convoy on the sea, and activity on the beaches. At the airstrip, the pilot and an officer are helped out of the Anson - the Officer has a despatch bag, and stands by a jeep. Ground staff and couriers eat their lunch in an orchard; a sergeant, with a mug of soup, attacks his colleagues with a teaspoon. Mail bags are carried into tents, sorted, piled onto a jeep, and finally loaded into a Hurricane. The Hurricane takes off and flies overhead. When the aircraft touches down, two despatch riders meet it, unload mail, check list with pilot, and drive off. WAAFs come out of the main ADLS office; inside, two sorters hand out mailbags to both army and RAF despatch riders. The two despatch riders pass the camera (this time without sidecars) and, at a fork in the road, go their separate ways. The army despatch rider is met by a sentry, shows his mailbag and drives on to Combined HQ where we see him drive up to the gateway. The RAF despatch rider reaches RAF HQ and continues up the drive (two takes). He enters HQ with the man who has met him. The camera pans up to the RAF ensign flying above.
