Probably 4th (but possibly 2nd) Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps, on the Western Front, autumn 1917.
The battalion on the march along a metalled road. The men march in salute past their commanding officer (indistinctly seen). The men, taken to a training field, shed their packs and practise bayonet fighting. Instruction is given in the operation of the Lewis machine gun. This is followed by physical training. A new issue is made of boots and clothing. The film ends with a half-profile portrait shot of "The Quartermaster, who has been with the battalion 25 years", most probably Lieutenant T Jones of 4th Battalion.
