PART 1: CHAIN LAYING. This section of the film details the entire process, from the planning phase, through moving the mines out of storage on land, to deploying them during the operation. It details the embarkation procedures, mine handling, tests to be carried out on the mines, loading and storing them on board, the electrical tests conducted on the mine circuits, securing the mines below deck, fitting primers and detonators. A diagram of the mining deck is included, showing each station manned during operations, in addition to the duties of the Navigation Officer and other key personnel. The laying process is also explained in detail.
PART 2: HAND LAYING. This section describes the detailed procedures used when circumstances do not enable toe chain conveyer on the mining deck to be sued during the deployment of mines.
