METALLENE SCHWINGEN : ein Film der Junkers-Flugzeugwerke (probable title - copy incomplete) [Main Title]
Last reel of a film showing production work on Junkers aircraft.
The film opens with a sequence showing manufacture of propellers (for Ju 86s) - machines grind the blades which are finished by hand and then assembled into complete airscrews (tracking shots down production lines and shots of polished blades glinting in the sunlight etc). A hooter announces lunch break with general shots of eating, relaxing and recreation (steaming cookers, works canteen with band, workers lying on grass by lakeside, reading, playing chess, horse play in the swimming pool, trees in blossom and so on). The final assembly of the Ju 86s (and briefly Ju 52s and 87s) is then shown - wings, tail section and propellers are attached to the fuselage. As the factory clock reaches 3 pm the doors are opened and the aircraft rolled out on to the apron. A Ju 52 takes off and there are shots of the Ju 86s in flight. Meanwhile, the workers march out to an assembly area and salute. The film closes with a shot of a bronze bust of Hitler with uplifting music and commentary (in verse).
