(Translation of commentary) "In this war that will decide on the being or non-being of the peoples and nations of Europe, and also on the being or non-being of our Dutch nation, Germany, together with her allies - is taking the leading part in the preservation of European culture. Millions of productive people are taking an active part in the fight for the preservation of Europe. Not one hand that can carry out valuable work stays idle since Germany is in a full state of war. (Scenes overlaid by jazz music of clubs, fashion show, clothing shop, restaurant, luxury products, bars, then contrast with working class). It is clear that all the European nations have to make their corresponding contribution, in order to preserve their autarchy and to secure their demands for the future. So we Dutch people cannot and will not stay behind. As a consequence, we also don't have time for irrelevant activities. And we cannot justify that a small group of idle rich lives for its materialistic pleasures and for their own luxurious ends keeps the workforce from their important tasks. In the future there is no more room for these parasites, which have actually always been a thorn in the eye of the working class. In the productive and fighting Europe the possibility exists for every man and for every woman to fulfil his or her duty. We have to refrain from the many things we believed were important and valuable in times of peace. There is no reason for keeping up appearances that have lost every reason for existence in this time of struggle for our future. Europe fights this fight for her being or non-being, and also for you and for your children! Europe shows then ...." (abrupt end)
