MOBILE ENGINEERS [Main Title]

Explains by use of a 'case history' the work of National Industry Mobile Squads, volunteer teams of skilled workers who are sent on specific missions to help start or speed up production.

Opening shots of Universal Carriers, Armoured Cars while commentary says this is a war of machines - key men not only Marshals, but mechanics. Most of the film is narrated by one of the team, or scripted dialogue. Scene on a railway carriage - starting work in the new workshop of a factory producing tank guns: some members of the team show girls how to operate machinery for best results; others design and make a special jig to make precise production of a key part easier and quicker. Mission completed, the squad leaves, as the narrator talks of long hours, separation from home - but of course it is all worth it.
