II. "Caen liberated." Muddy conditions caused by freak weather in Normandy is illustrated by jeeps struggling along a road and bulldozers clearing mud away. Now that their land has been freed and is safe, peasants return to their properties with their animals and possessions (woman walking along road with two sheep). Military operations shown include an artillery barrage, Shermans moving up, infantry moving through unharvested fields, the capture of prisoners, ground level film of heavy bomber target indicators floating down in the distance and rocket-firing Typhoons taking off and strafing (clear camera-gun film) Carpiquet airfield. Caen itself has been severely devastated.

I. "Royal visit to RAF and USAAF." King, Queen and Princess Elizabeth visit four RAF stations at one of which the King is seen decorating airmen. Other airmen crowd around the Royal visitors. At a US 8th Army Air Force field the Royal party is received by General Doolittle and watches Fortresses returning from a raid. The Princess christens one of these planes with a bottle of cider naming it 'Rose of York' and then shakes hands with the crew members.
