Towns already captured are Battipaglia and Eboli which appear heavily damaged following Allied aerial and artillery assault. Consolidation continues in the heel of Italy as supplies are unloaded in Taranto where "life has returned to normal." A fire blazes on the front at Bari.

RN ships, including 'King George V', escort part of the Italian Fleet, the battleships 'Italia' and 'Vittorio Veneto' and four destroyers, to Alexandria where Rear-Admiral Oliva goes on board the flagship to report to Admiral Sir John Cunningham. Movietone reporter Jim Humphreys (not seen) is catapulted off a ship in a Walrus to film the ships at sea.
