II. Citizens of bomb-damaged Mannheim attest faith in final victory. Sorely tried inhabitants of Mannheim, led by SA brass band, parade along street past bomb damage and despondent onlookers, reportedly demonstrating their unbending will for victory. Banner on wall reads "We shall master everything, at the end is victory" and placards declare "Work! Confidence! Victory!" and "Victory at any price". Salvage workers, men and women with shovels, pass by, with placards reading "Towards victory despite terror" and "Mannheim fights for victory". Poster proclaiming "Victory will be ours" hangs from baroque palace, badly damaged by bombing, and other placards read "Strong hearts win victory" and "Sure and resolute towards victory". SA unit bearing Rhein-Neckar banner marches at head of parade, prompting salutes from onlookers and remark "Beneath the victorious flags of the Movement (NSDAP) the battling home front renews its vow". Crowds in forecourt of palace then hear speech by Dr Ley who, flanked by Army, SA and other officials (Mayor in NSDAP uniform?, air raid protection chief?), reportedly repeats Führer's words that "the bombed out are the vanguard of our revenge".

V. Hitler Youth collects books for troops. Fifth wartime collection of books for the Wehrmacht, which is being organised by NSDAP, involves two members of Hitlerjugend picking up books offered by woman in doorway of her flat, packing of cases with books piled in central depot (Gottfried Keller, Gustav Freytag's "Ingo und Ingraban", "Wir beginnen das Wünschkonzert für die Wehrmacht"). Books are unpacked in hospital library (Nietzsche's "Also sprach Zarathustra", "Stukas, Erlebnis eines Fliegerkorps" by Curt Strohmeyer) and read by male patients in bed. Other donated books are read by Feldgendarmerie members standing in group, Luftwaffe pilot relaxing in deckchair by airfield and gunners at coastal artillery bunker named Westfalen (on Atlantic coast?) who receive books from NSV women.

VI. Germans strengthen defences in Italy. Animated map from Genoa to Rome. Italians place obstacles on seafront, turning the Italian Riviera into a defensive wall, while German troops cover beaches with barbed wire. Anti-tank obstacles and battery of four 8.8cm Flak line coastal road. Strengthening of defences continues with Pzkpfw IV Ausf Gs travelling south, two soldiers with wireless cable carriers on their back, placing of gun batteries in position and their immediate camouflage with branches over scrim netting. Domestic interlude shows trussed turkey hanging from gun barrel being skinned, then cooked and eaten by soldiers; meal ends with pancakes tossed in pan and water being collected from stream for field kitchen. Action commences when assault troop set out across country against enemy forward post and capture (moment of surrender) British soldiers who are brought in and questioned. 17cm Kanone 18 in Mörserlafette, concealed in landscape where vegetation includes cactus, is elevated and fired while gunners shield ears from blast. (End of Reel 1)

VII. (Reel 2) German combined operation to capture Leros. Animated map of Eastern Mediterranean indicates Leros and Samos in Dodecanese. Operation to capture British base commences with briefing for Arado Ar 196 crews beside their seaplanes at water's edge on Greek mainland. Arados take off, filmed from observer's position in rear cockpit, and fly over calm sea to escort troop convoy approaching Leros; planes bear Viking longship emblem of Küstenfliegergruppe 100. At sea convoy of landing craft follows minesweeper and destroyer (ex-Italian) escort; British efforts to interrupt operation by dropping bombs in distance are to no avail, although Germans do form smokescreen round their convoy; camera is on board destroyer with 4-inch gun and twin light anti-aircraft guns, which reportedly are fired at British positions ashore. German bombers (Dornier 217s) strafe island and enemy fuel dump on shore blazes after hit. Air assault continues with approach of Junkers Ju 52s, escorted by Arado Ar 196s, nearing island and dropping paratroops from low altitude. Conquest of island reportedly strengthens German position in Aegean.

VIII. German infantry battle on Eastern Front. Animated map from Vitebsk to Krivoi Rog. As bitter fighting reportedly continues, fuel from railway oil tankers is transferred to drums which are then manhandled (by Russian auxiliary personnel) into position. Military traffic signs point to Cholmetsch, Veterinary Company 8, Lorry Workshop Unit 435 and Stores Supply Point. Supply column of trucks, guns and cars is headed by Pzkpfw V Ausf D. Soviet plane in distance is fired at by 8.8cm and 2cm Flak. On battlefront between Gomel and Smolensk hard defensive fighting reportedly continues; dirty and grim German soldiers in trench in devastated landscape are reportedly holding enemy. Shells are passed out from rear of Sdkfz 252 semi-tracked light armoured ammunition carrier for rearming tanks. Two Pzkpfw VI Tiger 1s pass by at start of attack; Pak waits before opening fire, then Nebelwerfer barrage opens up against enemy. Grenadiers wait in devastated mudscape to counterattack, then advance behind StuG III, with Sdkfz 252 nearby; film record of attack is last material taken by Leutnant Ente (spelling?), who was killed filming in front line. His vivid record of infantry combat on Eastern Front continues with camera inside armoured vehicle, then approach of Russians, visible over wide front running towards German front line. Bolshevik attack is beaten off by tank and rifle fire, leaving Soviet prisoners, dead and shattered matériel, including Maxim Sokolov. Russian losses west of Smolensk were reportedly particularly high. Long lines of Russian prisoners are brought in, while German wounded return on hull of StuG III and carried by comrades. Battery of Maultier Nebelwerfers parked by edge of wood open fire repeatedly, their shells forming thick pall of smoke in middle distance.
