Daniels's work was mentioned to the WAAC by Gilbert Spencer. He submitted a picture in November 1941, although it was declined. A picture was purchased in February 1942 for 15 guineas (LD 1784).
The Committee also supported Daniels's case for facilities to paint agricultural subjects. In November 1942 a further picture was purchased, for 15 guineas (IWM:ART LD 2504) (24).
Daniels submitted a picture of a Land Army subject but the Committee's decision was held over while they awaited the submission of some commissioned pictures of the same subject. The picture (IWM:ART LD 2979) was purchased in June 1943 for 15 guineas; and another picture in March 1944 (LD 3843) for 20 guineas (58); for description of the subject, see (55).
