Lines put his name forward in January 1940. Biographical details are at (4). Later, in October 1941, at the suggestions of Thomas Hennell, he brought work in to show the Committee. One of these, LD 1517, was purchased for five guineas (8). Details of the subject are at (12).
In January 1943, Lines submitted another drawing, which was purchased for five guineas (18) (IWM:ART LD 2685).
Some of Lines's correspondence also concerns requests for paper for Thomas Hennell; and a suggestion from the Commissioners of Crown Lands that Lines be commissioned to document wartime activities in Windsor Great Park.
