A letter was sent to John and to Walter Sickert regarding the possibility of their working for the committee. John expressed interest and various subjects were suggested and discussed, including portraits of General de Gaulle, Ernest Bevin, Charles Portal and Lord Beaverbrook. The latter's response to the suggestion is interesting (28) as he comments on the fact that he helped John enormously in the last war but got no pictures from him (see First World War Archive). John also expressed interest in pictures of groups of soldiers. There is also much discussion of facilities, permits and petrol allowances, but no mention of any work being finished.
