Content description
It was proposed to produce lithographs of certain war pictures for sale at cost price to canteens. The images were to be printed by the Baynard Press and sold through the National Gallery. The four images were:
* Stanley Spencer - 'Burners'
* Paul Nash - 'Battle of Britain'
* Edward Ardizzone - 'Shelter Scene'
* Barnett Freedman - '15-inch Gun Turret, HMS Repulse'
Papers also concern the sale of these images. The scheme was not repeated, for financial reasons.
There are also a few papers regarding financing of a poster designed by Ardizzone 'Taking Cover'.
