The exhibition originally proposed for South Africa (qv) was sent to South America in 1942. The MoI's exhibition 'Britain at War', previously at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, was also being sent on to South America and the schedules were arranged so that the two shows would not clash. However, the former exhibition was lost at sea due to enemy action in late 1942. Subsequently, the MoI sent four pictures out to the region.
The file includes lists of pictures and arrangements for the return of all these pictures after the war.
The file included a poster for the 'Britain at War' exhibition, designed by E McKnight Kauffer.
