Clare Atwood

Clare Atwood was originally contacted by Yockney from the Ministry of Information. There is talk of a work of hers being included in the American exhibition (1919) but this did not happen. The Women's Work section of the IWM then contacted Atwood and this led to the commissioning of IWM:ART 2513 and 2514, the gift of IWM:ART 3062, and the purchase of IWM:ART 2919. A picture of "splint makers" at Mulberry Walk was declined as a gift. There is particular discussion of the subject matter and composition of IWM:ART 3062, and papers relating to the transfer of copyright to the Museum.
