The first part of the file concerns the acquisition of the four drawings in the 'Surrender of the German Fleet' series (IWM:ART 1635-8), painted under instruction from Captain Walcott and reproduced in 'Triumphs of the British Navy', an official account published by Hodder & Stoughton. There were some concerns about conservation problems of the materials used.
A further work, 'The Sinking of HMS Pathfinder', was offered as a loan to the Museum by Lieut E O Stallybrass (photographic reproduction included at (11-12), but declined.
In 1921 the Museum purchased a drawing of the 'Lord Clive' (IWM:ART 4060). The remaining correspondence concerns the long-term loan of a picture to the Anchorites club, and a suggestion by Parkes that he paint a series of Second World War ships, a suggestion which was declined.
