Documents, cheque stubs and ledgers relating to the mess at the RAF Aircraft Depot in Habbaniya, Iraq from 1939 to 1940. Some of the cheques are from the Imperial Bank of Iran. 3 ms and ts letters (3pp) written to the Secretary of the Officer's Mess, RAF by the Eastern Trading Company regarding the sale of a camera (dated June-July 1939). 11 ts letters (11pp) written by W S Carlin, Group Captain commanding aircraft depot, RAF Habbaniya, regarding food and drink stocks, cheque payments etc. (dated 6 October 1939-17 September 1940). 1 ts letter dated 22 November 1940, written by Group Captain J L Christie regarding the training of Iraqi ex-levy soldiers. Numerous documents are signed by various RAF personnel, including the Group Captain for the depot (W S Carlin?) Sergeant R.F. Osborne, Pilot Officer Paul McQuown (bounced too many checks), Pilot Officer H.R.K. Wells (bounced too many checks). 1 paper envelope which contained the 'key of wine cellar, aircraft depot, Officer's Mess', 1 account notebook for aircraft depot, Officer's Mess, RAF Habbaniya, 1 account book from Imperial Bank of Iran, assorted cheques etc.
