Three versions of a ts memoir (4pp, 9pp and 10pp, October 1986 - 1987) by Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Croft recording his participation in 'Clandestine Sea Operations from Corsica to Enemy-Occupied Italy (December 1943 to July 1944)' by the SOE unit BALACLAVA, notably his journey in the submarine HMS SERAPH to land radio sets on the Portofino Peninsula, the liberation of Corsica, operations landing SOE agents in Italy by boat from Calvi in Corsica, and commenting on his equipment, relations with the Italians, and his experiences. Also included are three ms and ts summaries (4pp, July 1986) of his education (1920 – 1929) and career as an Artic explorer and soldier (1929 – 1971); a ts article (in French and illustrated with photographs, 13pp, 1993) giving three eyewitness accounts (one being by Croft, 5pp) of the liberation of Montpellier (August – September 1944); a letter (13pp, August 1984) from his wife to a friend describing their trip to the South of France for the fortieth celebrations of liberation in 1944; three of his obituaries (3pp, June – July 1998); and the Order of Service (12pp, November 1998) in Thanksgiving for his life.
