Memoir (58pp ts) of his Second World War service in the Royal Corps of Signals (initially as a Territorial Army volunteer in 1938), his capture by German troops at St Valery in northern France in May 1940 along with the bulk of the 51st Highland Division, the forced march into Germany as a prisoner of war, confinement in a makeshift camp at Dortmund (? Stalag VID) before being transferred to Stalag XXA (Thorn / Torun), his experiences on various working parties in the vicinity and other aspects of POW life at Thorn, transfer to Stalag XXB (Marienburg), volunteering for an agricultural working party on a farm at Schlablau (1943) and at a sugar refining factory at Altfelde until the approach of the Red Army in January 1945, the evacuation march westwards from Marienburg in appalling winter conditions, ending at Annaberg (? Saxony) in April 1945 from where he was repatriated to the UK with American assistance.
